We are currently delivering turf Monday to Friday around metro Melbourne, covering the suburbs within 30km of the CBD, including of Werribee, Bacchus Marsh, Melton & Sunbury.
If you have access to a ute or a trailer, you can also pick up your turf from Sunshine Monday to Friday. (We do not have turf on display in Sunshine.)
All our orders over 30sqm are supplied with free fertiliser.
Place your order by 10am, the week day before your preferred delivery day. At this time of year you can take several days to lay the turf, but ideally you should lay the turf within 24hrs of delivery.
Although we prefer to have our Melbourne deliveries completed in the morning some deliveries will not be until the afternoon. We are unable to provide you with your preferred time as we are unable to satisfy everyone, although it would be nice….
Consequently, our minimum delivery is 20 square metres.
We send you a text message in the afternoon prior to your delivery with the expected delivery time.
Currently we do not have turf on display in Melbourne.
Laying turf at this time of year
During winter the turf may not fully establish until the weather warms up again in Spring. You therefore will need to keep the turf damp (not wet) until it is fully established (can not be lifted).
The leaf of the turf is currently yellow/green/brown. Due to the turf being grown out in an open paddock, the turf receives regular frosts over winter, discolouring the turf. The base of the leaf is green. This is very common for turf at this time of year.
In mid September, when the weather starts to warm up, keep the turf damp, fertilise the turf and consider top dressing the turf again if you can still see the joins.
Top dressing is where you spread a thick layer of river washed sand or a top soil (sandy loam) along the joins of the turf and anywhere you have cut the turf to fit.
Melbourne residences are now under Permanent Water Use Rules. You can now water with a hose fitted with a trigger nozzle at any time & watering systems can be used between 6pm and 10am any day.
